In Punk
We Distrust

CM Punk not only captured a huge win over Rey Mysterio at Capitol Punishment, but he also made a bold vow to rattle the WWE Universe at its core.

CM Punk def. Rey Mysterio

WASHINGTON D.C. – Even without the flanking of his New Nexus rebels at Capitol Punishment, CM Punk eked out a sound victory over longtime enemy Rey Mysterio, closing the latest chapter on their storied rivalry and positioning Punk to next “do the most honest thing the WWE Universe has even seen.” )
While his cryptic message begs for clarity in the wake of Capitol Punishment, the one certainty to be extracted is that – as attested by The Straight Edge Superstar’s staidness to his unique lifestyle – Punk takes personal vows most seriously. It’s a matter of time before the New Nexus leader’s actions make an indelible impact on the WWE Universe – not too dissimilar to that left on The Master of the 619 in Washington D.C., on pay-per-view.
The Ultimate Underdog, in this instance, wasn’t overwhelmed by the odds of the yellow-and-black armbanded renegades commanded by CM Punk. Banned by an authority-wielding “Stone Cold” Steve Austin prior to the pay-per-view clash, The New Nexus ranks – WWE Tag Team Champions David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty, plus the monstrous Mason Ryan – could not intervene in their savior’s favor.
The result? A definitive match between two former World Champions who’ve fought for hair, mask, family honor and much more in their intertwined pasts.
In a fast-paced physical dispute between two men who are more than well versed in one another’s techniques and movesets, CM Punk snared a satisfying pinfall victory after slipping a 619 into a GTS. Digits morphed into letters and the referee’s three-count sealed The Straight Edge Superstar’s sworn impending act of honesty.
CM Punk evades Rey Mysterio's 619 at Capitol Punishment
No alcohol, no drugs, no tobacco and no lies. According to the sinister CM Punk, he will outwardly differentiate himself from the politicians of Washington and his fellow Superstars whom he dubbed frauds.
Empowered by his substantial triumph on pay-per-view, Punk walks forth with obscured intentions. Honesty is typically the best policy … except when brandished by one with an ashen heart like CM Punk. What exactly is up The Second City Savior’s tape and tattoo sleeves? And when will he play his hand?

Bourne Supremacy

After weeks of trading victories on Raw, Evan Bourne soared to victory over Jack Swagger at Capitol Punishment Sunday night.

WASHINGTON D.C. – At WWE Capitol Punishment – in a special bonus attraction – Evan Bourne soared to victory over The All-American American Jack Swagger.
The personal showdown between the two determined Superstars proved to be a fast-paced match of pure punishment from the opening bell.  Then in its climatic moments, Bourne attempted to hit the Shooting Star Press. Swagger avoided the exciting finisher and immediately went for the ankle lock. However, just as he was about to lock it in, Bourne displayed exceptional presence of mind, countering the dreaded hold to pick up the three-count and leave the fuming Swagger with another defeat.
The animosity between the Money Night Raw warriors has grown by leaps and bounds over the past several weeks of their explosive showdown. After reigning supreme over Bourne in one instance, The All-American American humiliated his high-flying foe with a victory lap around the ring. Bourne sprang back to the offensive the following week, earning a win of his own, which only served to fuel the rage of his two-time All-American adversary.
Then, when Swagger attempted to walk away from a match with Booker T, Bourne rushed to action, forcefully returning him to the ring and topping-off the six-time World Heavyweight Champion’s attack of retribution with the Shooting Star Press. And as their aggression built to an all-out boil, it was no surprise that a match between the explosive grapplers was added at WWE’s exciting new pay-per-view.
Evan Bourne has walked out of WWE Capitol Punishment in triumph. And although the WWE Universe ecstatically cheered his victory, one can’t help but wonder whether a win-at-any-cost Superstar like Jack Swagger will ever let it end at that.

Del Rio by a Leg

Alberto Del Rio better have a full tank of gas in his expensive ride following his win over an injured Big Show at Capitol Punishment. Who gave the arrogant aristocrat a massive leg up on The World's Largest Athlete?

Alberto Del Rio def. Big Show

WASHINGTON D.C. – Hungry for payback, Big Show only had one thing on his mind entering Capitol Punishment – not only defeating, but decimating Alberto Del Rio. Despite his fierce determination, The World’s Largest Athlete lost to The Mexican Aristocrat after a fuming mad Mark Henry shockingly attacked Big Show, leaving him unable to fully compete when forced to face a merciless Del Rio.
Tired of being mocked, taunted and still seething – after Ricardo Rodriguez “accidentally” hit him with one of Del Rio’s luxury automobiles, which sidelined him for weeks  Big Show entered Capitol Punishment with a ferocious intensity. Less than a week after he destroyed Rodriguez on Raw, the giant sought retribution against Del Rio – the payback he wasn’t able to attain on SmackDown.
Before their match at Capitol Punishment even began, Big Show viciously attacked The Mexican Aristocrat from behind, dragging him toward the ring, tossing him into the barriers. Just when it seemed Big Show would get his retribution, Henry emerged and surprised Big Show with an attack from behind. The World’s Strongest Man sought revenge for the beat down he suffered during Big Show’s rampage on SmackDown.
Next, Henry viciously splashed Big Show through the announce table as Del Rio watched, then returned to further punish him, focusing on the knee that was injured when he was hit by Del Rio’s automobile. The Mexican Aristocrat asked for his hand to be raised in victory, begging the official to start the count as Big Show tended to his knee outside of the ring. However, when asked by the official if he was willing to compete, the fallen giant bravely complied.
The attack by Henry left Big Show somewhat able to compete, but he favored his knee throughout the match, never allowing him to fully focus on his opponent. Del Rio locked in a brutal kneebar on Big Show’s leg, causing more pain to the giant. The official ended the match due to Big Show’s inability to compete in the match, allowing Del Rio to steal the victory.
Will an incensed Big Show dare seek retribution again against Del Rio? Will The Mexican Aristocrat find a way to fend off The World’s Largest Athlete another time? Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown on Syfy at 8/7 CT.
